LDEO Rock Mechanics Lab
Under PIs Ben Holtzman and Christine McCarthy, the Lamont Rock and Ice Mechanics lab is studying a variety of Earth and Planetary processes. Using several different machines, we cover the gamut of T-P conditions in our deformation experiments. Currently funded projects range from: reaction driven cracking to tidally modulated sliding of ice streams and frictional heating on icy satellites. We have technicians, postdocs, grad students, undergrads and even high school interns and the occasional visitor. If you are interested in working on these or other deformation-related projects and like working with your hands, please send an email to inquire about any openings!
